Public Engagement

Abolish ICE

As a scholar-activist, I am committed to immigration enforcement reform in the United States. In 2021, I co-organized the conference Abolish ICE: What Does it Mean and What Is At Stake? featuring panels on abolishing the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that put into conversation a range of stakeholders with radically different perspectives, including leading scholars, policy makers, implementers, and immigrant rights advocates.

São Paulo City Council Civic Academy

I gave public lectures alongside migrants and other advocates on Chinese Migration and the Informal Economy for the public-engagement project São Paulo For All Migrants hosted by the São Paulo City Council Civic Academy.

Brazilian Civil Society Forum on Migration

Between 2013 and 2017, I participated in the Brazilian Civil Forum on Migration in both my capacities as an invited expert on migration in the tri-border area between Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina, and as an advocate for immigration reform in Brazil during the passing and implementation of the 2017 Immigration Bill.
